You’re Covered for the Road Ahead
RV Insurance offered through the AARP® Auto Insurance Program from The Hartford offers many of the same great benefits and features as our auto insurance plan, giving you more value for your money.
Features, Benefits and Discounts of RV Insurance
12-Month Rate Protection
Because the AARP Auto Insurance Program from The Hartford offers a 12-month RV insurance policy, your motor home insurance or trailer insurance rate is locked in for a full year – not just 6 months like most other companies.
Lifetime Renewability Benefit†
Once you become a motor home or camper insurance policyholder, you are assured continued coverage, regardless of your age or driving record. All you have to do is meet a few simple requirements, such as maintaining a valid driver's license.
Defensive Driving Credit
If you're the primary operator of the vehicle and have completed an approved defensive driver course, such as the AARP® Driver Safety Program, you're eligible for a discount on your RV insurance for the next three full years. Just mail The Hartford a copy of your certificate, and we will apply the credit.
(The Defensive Driver discount name may vary by state. For example, in some states, such as New York, the course is called the Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Course discount. In other states it may be called the Accident Prevention or Motor Vehicle Improvement Course discount. In Kentucky, this credit applies for five years.)
Safety & Security Feature Discounts
You can get discounts on your RV or trailer insurance for having certain safety features, such as air bags or security features, such as an alarm or other anti-theft device.
You may be eligible for additional discounts if you insure your home, as well as your cars and motor home, through the AARP Auto and Homeowners Insurance Program from The Hartford. We also offer insurance for boats, vacation homes, golf carts, snowmobiles, and other recreational vehicles. Our RV insurance rates help you save more when you insure more.
Additional Motor Home Credits
In many states, the AARP Auto Insurance Program from The Hartford even offers special discounts just for motor homes, including:
Lay Up Credit
Savings given during the months you don’t use your motor home.
A discount if you belong to an RV association.

RV Insurance Coverage Details
$500 Towing Expenses
Few insurance companies provide a benefit large enough to cover the real costs of towing a motor home. But with the AARP Auto Insurance Program from The Hartford, each time your motor home is disabled, you are guaranteed up to $500 for towing and labor costs and as an option, you can add unlimited coverage for just $40. So you'll be paid for all your towing bills no matter what the cost.
$500 Emergency Expenses
When you're traveling more than 50 miles from home, and your motor home is damaged or destroyed, you're protected with up to $500 for temporary housing, travel expenses, and costs to return your RV to your home or appropriate storage place. This added benefit is an extension of your Comprehensive and Collision protection.
$750 Transportation Expenses
Should your motor home ever be damaged or stolen, you will be paid up to $25 a day for car rental, bus, train or other transportation expenses... to a total of $750. In case of theft, the combination of emergency and transportation expense benefits will total a maximum of $750.
$50,000 Vacation Home Liability
While you're traveling and using your motor home as a residence, you're guaranteed up to $50,000 in personal liability protection. This covers you for legal liability in the event of bodily injury to someone else or damage to their property.
Room Extensions and Awnings
Any attached awnings or cabanas are fully covered along with any other special equipment designed to create extra living facilities.
While traveling in Canada, rest assured your motor home coverage is in force. While traveling in Mexico, you're covered within 25 miles of the border, for up to 10 days, to the extent the law permits. But be sure to buy Mexican liability coverage at the border; it's required by Mexican law.
