The Hartford Named to Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for Fifth Consecutive Year

For the fifth consecutive year, The Hartford has been recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for its approach to the disclosure of climate change. The CDP, which represents 655 institutional investors with $78 trillion in assets, is an international, not-for-profit organization providing the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information. The index, compiled by PwC on behalf of CDP, provides an evaluation tool for institutional investors and other stakeholders.

The Hartford Ranked No. 14 on Newsweek’s Green Rankings of U.S. Companies

Newsweek ranked The Hartford as the 14th greenest company in America, making it the greenest financial services company in the country for the second year in a row. The magazine’s annual Green Rankings, which were released Oct. 22, 2012, compares the actual environmental footprints, management (policies, programs, initiatives, controversies), and reporting practices of big companies.

The Hartford Named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

The Hartford has been named a 2012/2013 member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes were launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmarks. The indexes are offered cooperatively by SAM and S&P Dow Jones Indices. The family tracks the stock performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. The indexes serve as benchmarks for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios, and provide an effective engagement platform for companies who want to adopt sustainable best practices.
