| Q:
| Is it possible to rotate between the P&C and Life companies? |
| A:
| Our rotational programs are business-specific (Life program and P&C program), so we do not have a formal rotation between the two businesses. The Hartford encourages each employee to be in charge of his or her own career goals, so if it's something you are interested in trying; we suggest you talk to your manager. We do request you spend at least one year in your current position. |
| Q:
| What is it like during a typical first-year rotational position? |
| A:
| Our actuaries are encouraged to get involved at every level, whether it is sitting in on a division meeting, actively recruiting interns and recent college grads, or presenting analysis and modeling results to Corporate Actuarial. As one student said, "I have been surprised with the amount of input I have had at every level. Interns, first year students, and all employees are treated equally." |
| Q:
| Are you expected to take an exam every sitting? |
| A:
| Yes. Part of your responsibility as an actuary is continuing to sit for, and pass, actuarial exams. You must pass a minimum of one exam every three sittings to remain in our rotational programs. |
| Q:
| Can I get involved in recruiting other students? |
| A:
| Absolutely! We encourage your participation in choosing which schools we visit, creating presentations and marketing materials used to promote our programs, interviewing and deciding on candidates. We value your insight as we strive to continuously improve and evolve our programs and attract the best talent. |
