"Being an actuarial intern at The Hartford is an amazing learning experience. The program's primary goal really is to introduce interns to what life would be like working for the company full-time. I was very surprised by the great effort that was made to explain the plethora of opportunities and benefits here. For example, we met with executives and actuaries in each department who explained how their part of the company worked as well as their department's possible job opportunities. These types of experiences create a real sense of knowing how positive the atmosphere is all over the company, instead of only knowing about the department in which I worked.
As for the actual work, I also had a great experience. The Hartford treated me just as though I was a new full-time employee: I had real work that was important to the company, but I also had all the resources I needed to explain my projects and answer my questions. Everyone I met and worked with was so friendly and brilliant and my summer flew by." |
