Details
The Alliance for Academic Achievement Program is a partnership between The Hartford, four public high schools in Hartford:
Bulkeley, Hartford Public, Weaver and The Sport
Sciences Academy and UConn,
Trinity
College and Howard
University. Three great colleges and one great financial
services company, willing to award substantial scholarships
to academically superior students who demonstrate a financial
need and are residents of the City of Hartford! The Hartford
contributes in excess of $600,000 annually to this program,
with additional funds coming directly from the colleges. The
Alliance Program offers you the following:
- A Great Scholarship: Alliance students receive $5,000 a year, for each of their four years at college. Less money comes out of your pocket!
- A Mentor from The Hartford:
This means continued support from someone at The Hartford
who is concerned about your success and knowledgeable about
your needs.
- Summer Employment with The Hartford or one of our community partners: You will have the opportunity for full-time summer employment with The Hartford. These paid positions help students gain valuable internship experience and provide the added benefit of alleviating the stress that comes with searching for summer employment. As part of your commitment to the Alliance Program, you are required to work at The Hartford during the summer after you graduate from high school. As long as you demonstrate good job performance, you are eligible to work with us during all four of your summer breaks from college.
- Life Skills Courses: During summer employment, The Hartford will provide Life Skills courses through our Corporate Education Center. Alliance students receive training on topics that will help them succeed both at work and at college, including: effective presentations, time management, financial planning and business writing.
