When employees are unable to work because of a disabling injury or illness, STD goes to work for them, replacing part of their income.  Our product makes the whole process easier for everyone because experienced nurses handle the claims, providing compassionate expertise that can reduce durations.   We can integrate STD with Leave Management.We use a 100 percent return-to-work incentive formula for companies with 500+ employees.

Long-term Disability (LTD): Continuing protection.

Like STD, our LTD product is carefully designed to emphasize ability, not limitations. It addresses your employees' need for a secure income together with your need for the best possible outcome at work, through features like:

  • A disability definition that lets employees satisfy the Elimination Period with a loss of duties only.

  • An enhanced continuity of coverage clause that prevents employees from being stranded without coverage on our policy transfer date - even if they're not actively at work on that day.
  • A generous living benefit option: Terminally Ill employees or dependents can accelerate their benefits, up to $500,000.
  • Premium waivers for disabled employees who attempt to return to work.
  • A Portability option and conversion is offered with our Life product. If your employees leave your company, or under other qualifying conditions, they can take all or a portion of their coverage with them.

The Hartford's fully insured group retiree medical plan helps pay the Medicare eligible deductibles, co-payments and out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by Medicare. Plus, it helps take the burden off of your company while potentially lowering costs. A few of the advantages:

    • May qualify for the CMS Retiree Drug Subsidy for employer groups.
    • Through our Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) contract with CVSCaremark, we can provide the reporting to request reimbursement from CMS under the subsidy.
    • Provided through both retail and mail-order pharmacies with an open formulary, which includes a preferred drug list and generic drugs.
  • Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans (PDP) through Employer Group Waiver Plans.
    • The Hartford works with prescription drug plan sponsors with extensive experience in Part D coverage.
