Title: Communicating for Coexistence

This fabric mural (12' x4') consists of four panels sewn together created by students and teachers from the elementary, junior and senior high school. First, digital photos of the students' hands were used as models to draw designs onto mylar. They used a stencil burner to burn out the lines and shapes and then stencilled the fabric with fabric paint. Repeated patterns suggest the movement and fluidity of sign language. At American School for the Deaf, sign language is vital for deaf and hearing people to coexist.
