Daylight-Only Driving Credit:
Credit for drivers over age 75 who drive only during daylight hours, except during emergencies.
Defensive Driving Course Credit:
Up to 10% credit will be given for insured drivers carrying full coverage who complete an approved defensive driver course, such as AARP's 55 Alive/Mature Driving Program. This credit is good for three years.
Combined Program Credit:
Members who insure both automobile and home through the AARP Insurance Program may receive a credit of up to 10% on their auto and 5% on their homeowners policies.
Safety Features Discounts:
Discounts of up to 60% off medical payment and no-fault coverage if insured vehicle has airbags and automatic safety belts. Discounts on liability and collision premiums if
insured vehicle has anti-lock brakes (ABS). A $10,000 benefit in the event of a death due
to an auto accident in which all occupants were wearing safety belts.
Incident-Free Credit:
If all drivers listed on the policy have clean driving records (no traffic violations or
at-fault accidents shown on their Motor Vehicle Reports within the past three years),
there is a savings of up to 5% on selected coverages. This credit is available each policy
period until the third year with the AARP Program. Then, if all drivers on the policy
maintain safe driving records, policyholders qualify for the Renewal Credit described
below.
Renewal Credit:
There is a credit of up to 5% on renewal premium if the policyholder has been accident and violation free for the past three years under the AARP Automobile Insurance Program. Maintain a safe driving record and receive a credit of up to 10% after three more years with the program.
Driver Training Credit:
There is a credit for drivers under 21-years-old who successfully complete an approved
course.
Good Student Driver Credit:
If each full-time student under the age of 25 who owns or operates a vehicle insured through the AARP Auto Insurance Program qualifies as a good student, there is a 10% discount on your Liability, Medical Payments, Personal Injury Protection (No-fault), Comprehensive and Collision Coverages. Also, students at school more than 100 miles away without a car may qualify for a discount.
Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, All-Terrain Vehicles, and Jet Skis:
The Hartford's partnership with Progressive Insurance Company, fully acknowledged by AARP, allows the program to offer specialty coverages for such things as motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, all-terrain vehicles, and jet skis.
Availability of program features and credits varies by state. The AARP Automobile Insurance Program is not available in Massachusetts, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.
