More: Personal Umbrella Policy
The Personal Umbrella Policy is designed to reduce the worry,
trouble and financial burden of facing personal litigation
on your own. It will also give the expanded liability coverage
that may be needed if a serious accident occurs.
Extended Coverage:
This policy takes over where the basic automobile and homeowners
policies leave off, providing up to two million dollars worth
of additional liability coverage.
Broader Coverage:
The policy also provides coverage that basic auto and
homeowners insurance policies may not offer; for example,
coverage against lawsuits for libel, slander, defamation of
character, or invasion of privacy. And it extends the same
coverage to the spouse and other relatives living in the
household.
Legal Defense Payments:
If a policyholder is sued because of a covered occurrence
and the primary insurance policies do not apply or have been
exhausted, the Hartford's Personal Umbrella Policy will pay
legal expenses incurred, including attorney's fees and court
costs.
Umbrella Coverage is offered to policyholders, whose personal
insurance policies, including automobile, homeowners, and
watercraft, have the required liability coverages. Amount
of coverage and availability may vary from state to state.
