Voluntary Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance
To family and loved ones, you're invincible, invulnerable, larger than life. And why shouldn't they think that? You've always been there for them. You work hard every day to support your home and your lifestyle.
But what if you suffer a non-work related injury or illness and can't bring in the money needed to support yourself or your family?
Voluntary Short Term Disability Insurance
The State of Arizona provides you with the opportunity to purchase Voluntary Short Term Disability (STD) insurance, which is designed to pay a benefit to you in the event you cannot work because of a covered illness, injury or pregnancy. This benefit replaces a portion of your income, thus helping you meet your financial commitments in time of need.
Help protect what you've worked for all these years, even if you can't work for months.
The roof you sleep under, the car you drive, the lifestyle you've built, may be protected – if you protect your income – and Disability Insurance can help you do that.
Protecting your income: Until you're on your feet, we've got your back.
If you are hurt or fall ill and can't work, Disability Insurance pays you a portion of your lost earnings. It kicks in when you're laid up - to help you pay your monthly bills, such as your mortgage or rent, not to mention everyday expenses like groceries or child-care. You can focus on your health, knowing your finances are well taken care of.
Long Term Disability Insurance (LTD)
Long Term Disability insurance is designed to pay a monthly benefit to you in the event you cannot work for 6 months or longer because of a covered illness or injury. This LTD benefit replaces a portion of your income, helping you to meet your financial commitments in a time of need.
As a benefits-eligible employee, you are automatically enrolled in one of the State of Arizona's two LTD programs, starting with your first day of work if hired prior to July 20, 2011 or after day 90 days if hired on or after July 20, 2011. The retirement system to which you contribute determines the LTD program available to you.
If you participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), visit the website for information on your LTD benefits.
The Hartford provides LTD insurance to participants of the following retirement plans:
