Hartford Agent Makes a Difference in
Local Community with Jr. Fire Marshal Program |
 |
Barbara Lilze-Lloyd of Ramsey Insurance Agency in West Virginia has been the
local chair of the JFM program in her community for five years. Each year
Barbara, a Commercial Lines agent, coordinates JFM sessions for two
Kindergarten classes. With the help of Charleston Association of Insurance
Women and other Ramsey employees, Barbara prepares goodie bags with JFM’s
fire helmets, crayons, JFM activity sheets and other materials to help teach
kids about fire safety. Barbara also works with the West Virginia Forestry
Department who sends in Smokey Bear for the day! Smokey Bear teaches the
children about fire safety and gives them a sticker and coloring pages to
help them learn. The local fire department then brings a five man crew and a
fire truck to further educate the children. The fire crew speaks with the
children while dressing in their gear to teach them not to be scared of
firemen in case a real fire occurs.
“I enjoy this day I think more than the children,” Barbara says. “This is my
favorite community project”.
