We are committed to providing an efficient on-boarding experience for all of our new employees. On this page you will learn more about what to expect on your first day. Should you have any further questions about your first day at The Hartford, please contact your Recruiter or your new Manager.
Your First Day...
New employees typically attend an orientation session hosted by an HR representative on their first day. In addition to Orientation, there will also be several employment forms you will be required to complete. An HR representative or designated employee in your office will assist you with those.
Orientation sessions are held on Mondays; if a particular Monday is a company holiday, then Orientation will be held on Tuesday. Discussion topics include: company overview, benefits, including Medical, Dental, Investment & Savings Plan (401k), Pension, Life Insurance, Disability, Paid Time Off (PTO), the Employee Marketplace and more.
Orientation Logistics
Connecticut-based employees will attend orientation either live or virtually based on their location. Please refer to your offer letter for details on where and when to report your first day. Those in Connecticut assigned to attend The Hartford’s Home Office Campus Orientation participate in orientation from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EST. Here is the agenda for the Home Office Orientation.
Field, remote, and Connecticut-based employees assigned to attend virtually will participate in the Virtual Orientation from 1:30pm – 3:30pm EST. View the agenda and information on how to join the Virtual Orientation. If you have never used virtual tools before view the step-by-step instructions for how to join.
New Hire Paperwork
During your first day you will be asked to complete the New Hire Paperwork. It is critical that your paperwork is completed with accuracy, specifically your I9 documentation for eVerification. To learn more about what to bring with you to complete your new hire paperwork, view the Forms and Paperwork and Security Badges sections.
