Immigration Policy

Overview/Policy Statement
Upon showing of a business need and proper approval thereof, The Hartford will sponsor Foreign Nationals for employment-based visas or lawful permanent residency ("Green Cards").

Managers and employees are responsible for adherence to company policy. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Rationale
This policy reduces the possibility of unintentional offers of sponsorship to Foreign Nationals and ensures that a business need warrants expenses related to sponsorship.

Scope
This policy applies to all applicants and employees of The Hartford and its subsidiaries and affiliates.

Applying the Policy
  • The Hartford's sponsorship of a Foreign National for a visa (H-1B, TN, L-1 or J-1 visas) does not obligate or guarantee that The Hartford will sponsor the Foreign National for lawful permanent residency ("Green Card").

  • When The Hartford sponsors Foreign Nationals for employment-based visas or lawful permanent residency, it may engage Outside Counsel to assist with the process. Foreign Nationals are not permitted to handle on their own or hire their own attorneys to handle any employment-related immigration matters.
