Liability Coverage for Charter Schools

What We Offer How You Will Benefit
Educator’s General Liability Endorsement This specialized coverage extends general liability protection for: 1) trustees, board members, teachers, student teachers, resident assistants, volunteers and interns; 2) school sponsored study trips; 3) medical payments for volunteers, students and student athletes; and 4) science laboratory accidents.
Educators' Legal Liability If you run a school, you’ll want the protection this coverage offers. That's because it covers "wrongful acts" including errors and omissions committed by an administrator, teacher, staff member, director or officer during the course of his or her duties for your school or college. Included in The Hartford's insurance program for private schools, educator's legal liability protects against allegations of four educational "wrongful acts", namely:
  • Directors and Executive Officers Wrongful Acts, which are misstatements, misleading statements, breach of duty, neglect, error or omission made by a paid or volunteer board member who assists the school in making critical decisions about operations and economic survival.
  • Educational Wrongful Acts, which are errors and omissions you make while acting on behalf of your school or college. Its basic feature is to protect the staff or school from allegations of failure to educate or supervise a classroom.
  • Employee Benefits Wrongful Act, which are negligent acts, errors or omissions in the administration your school's employee benefit plan.
  • Employment Practices Wrongful Acts, the educators' version of employment practices liability insurance, which protects against employment-related lawsuits claiming sexual harassment, wrongful termination or discrimination
