The Hartford Named to 2011 S&P 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for Fourth Year in a Row

For the fourth consecutive year, the international, independent non-profit organization, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), has recognized The Hartford for its professional approach to corporate governance regarding climate change disclosure practices by placing the company on the S&P 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index. CDP is the world's largest database of corporate climate change information, and has become the gold standard for carbon disclosure methodology and process. It represents 551 institutional investors (including The Hartford) with $71 trillion in assets under management.

The Hartford Ranked No. 12 on Newsweek’s Green Rankings

Newsweek ranked The Hartford as the 12th greenest company in America. The magazine’s annual Green Rankings, which were released in October 2011, compares the actual environmental footprint, management (policies, initiatives, controversies) and transparency of the biggest companies on the planet. Newsweek partners with two leading environmental research organizations, Trucost and Sustainalytics to conduct this study.
