Investment and Saving Plan (ISP)
Our 401(k) plan provides employees with the opportunity to save on a tax-deferred basis to meet their retirement needs. The ISP offers a range of options in which to invest.
Retirement Plan - Cash Balance
Our U.S. employees are eligible to participate in a cash balance pension plan. Benefit credits are made based on your pay each pay period, and your age; and an interest credit, equal to a percentage of your account balance, is also applied. The program is funded by The Hartford, and you are vested in your cash balance account after you have completed three years of service.
Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
Once you complete six months of service, our ESPP makes it possible for you to buy shares of The Hartford common stock at a discounted price through payroll deduction.

The Hartford manages $50 billion of assets and offers 54 funds, from conservative fixed-income (bond) investments to domestic and international equity choices. Our employees enjoy the benefit of reduced transaction and management fees when investing in these funds.

Whether you're saving for a new home, car, education, retirement or a rainy day, U.S. Savings Bonds can help you reach your goals with safety, market-based yields and tax benefits. You set the amount you want to invest and the money is deducted from your pay.
Smart529 College Savings Program
A 529 program is an educational savings plan designed to help you set aside money for future college costs. Our Smart529 Plan offers you the convenience of having contributions deducted automatically from your paycheck.
