The Operations track of The Hartford’s Early Career Leadership Development Program (ECLDP) introduces high performing college graduates to various areas in Operations. This program builds a pipeline of skilled and motivated individuals who possess the qualities we seek for roles in our Business Operations departments. You will develop skills in areas like Business Analysis, Project Management, Process Management/ Six Sigma, Front Line Management and Learning Development.
Our program offers both an undergraduate internship and a three-year rotational program designed to develop the core competencies and experience that current students and recent graduates need to launch a successful career as an operations professional.

A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher (out of 4.0 scale or equivalent) at the time of graduation.
Desired majors include, but are not limited to; Business or Operations management, Supply Chain, Economics, and Liberal Arts.
Expectation to graduate in January or May 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree. College juniors with the same GPA requirements may apply for a summer internship.

Q: What types of qualifications are needed to become part of the ECLDP Operations track?
A: We look for candidates with a strong interest in how operations support business functions. A Bachelor’s degree, a record of high achievement, leadership and self-motivation are crucial. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, strong analytical skills, developed research skills, and the ability to multi-task. They must have the ability to analyze complex problems and make sound recommendations in a fast-paced team environment. Solid written and verbal communication skills are also essential.

A: We typically look for candidates with a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Q: When does the program begin recruiting candidates?
: Recruiting takes place year-round online, but we begin recruiting on campus for full-time and intern positions in the fall. Q: When does the program begin?
A: Full-time ECLDP Operations participants begin a 1-2 week orientation in mid-July while summer interns will go through a 2-3 day orientation at the beginning of June. Full-time program participants can expect to begin their first rotation on July 31st.
Q: What is the typical workload of an ECLDP Operations participant?
A: Full-time resources spend about 90% of their week on their assigned rotations and 10% of their time is spent on various side projects. This unique opportunity gives participants the ability to gain insight and experience into areas outside of their rotations. Summer interns spend Monday through Thursday in their assigned areas and Fridays are spent with 3-4 other members of the program working on team projects. Team projects are collaborative initiatives where interns get together to solve a current business problem.
Q: What happens when the program ends?
A: Full-Time Program: Three years of development and rotations in the program prepares participants to pursue challenging positions in The Hartford’s Operations organization.
Intern Program: At the end of 10 weeks, interns present their team projects to The Hartford’s senior leaders. Interns can expect decisions to be made around offers for full-time or intern positions for the following summer within a week of their departure from the program.
Q: Are there rotations available outside of Hartford?
A: Most rotations are available in our Hartford and Windsor, CT offices. Limited opportunities are also found in our major operations locations (San Antonio, TX, Charlotte, NC and New Hartford, NY).
