Coordination

Coordinated Claims for Optimized Experience

The Hartford finds opportunities to coordinate and streamline activities throughout the claim and leave process in order to give claimants the best possible experience. And, because we’re one of a very few insurers to offer employers both group benefit and workers’ compensation plans, we are able to coordinate our management and reporting capabilities for both work and non-work related absences.
Integrating group disability, leave management, and workers’ compensation into a coordinated absence management program can help businesses streamline processes and improve productivity. It can also provide employers with a broad view of the impact absences are having on their organization.

The Hartford Productivity Advantage is a solution that integrates the administration and tracking of both work and non-work related absence events for these four products and services:

  • Short-term disability
  • Long-term disability
  • Leave management
  • Workers’ compensation
The Hartford’s Social Security disability advocates help ease an employee’s transition to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Our award rate of over 97% for 6 years running far exceeds the national average of 63% according to the Social Security Administration (SSA).1 Here’s why we’re so successful:

  • We’ve formed partnerships with highly qualified credentialed Social Security vendors, streamlining the transition to SSDI and making it easier for the employee.
  • Our trained analysts and advocates understand “compassionate allowances” during STD and can facilitate quick approvals.

Compassionate Allowances Program

For the more than 200 serious diagnoses the SSA considers for expediting,  we identify these claims automatically in our system in order to help these patients with their  applications and speed up the process. As a result, we have reduced the time from initial filing to award, to an average of 58 days. Whereas initial decisions by SSA are typically measured in months or years – not days.
