The Hartford Benefit Program: Connecticut Crumbling Foundations

A Benefit to Help Pay for Crumbling Foundation Repairs

If you’re a current or former homeowners policyholder of The Hartford with a home located in Connecticut and you are experiencing deterioration of your foundation due to the presence of pyrrhotite, we may be able to help. We’ve created a $3.5 million fund called The Hartford Benefit Program that can help pay for repairs that are not fully covered by the Connecticut Foundation Solutions Indemnity Company (CFSIC).

Current homeowners policyholders of The Hartford who meet all criteria are eligible for up to $25,000. Former policyholders who meet all criteria are eligible for up to $10,000. In either case, the amount you’ll receive is subject to program terms and availability of funding.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to receive the benefit if you meet all three of the following criteria:

  • You file a claim with CFSIC and it is paid.
  • Your home is insured with The Hartford, with a policy in effect on or before Jan. 8, 2019. You may still qualify if your home was formerly insured with The Hartford, as long as your policy was effective on or before Jan. 8, 2019.
  • The cost of structural repairs or replacement exceeds what CFSIC will cover.

Enrollment

Start the enrollment process here by providing all the applicable information you have.

Enrollment is not a guarantee that you are eligible for the benefit or that it will be paid. Keep in mind that you must first apply for and receive funding through the CFSIC, and that your CFSIC claim must be closed, before The Hartford can pay you a benefit. If you have not done so already, please file a claim with CFSIC to begin the process.
