Tobacco-Free Campus Policy

Overview

The Hartford is dedicated to supporting the good health of our employees.  One way we do this is by offering access to a no-cost tobacco cessation program and resources.  To further encourage a healthy environment for our employees and visitors, the use of tobacco products (including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, smokeless tobacco, vapes, electronic cigarettes or other tobacco products) is not allowed on The Hartford's property.

This policy applies to all employees of The Hartford and its contractors, customers, and visitors at all U.S. locations of The Hartford and its participating subsidiaries.

Specifically employees, contractors, customers and visitors may not use tobacco products:

  • within all company offices and buildings;
  • on company grounds, including walkways, parking lots and parking garages;
  • in company-assigned vehicles; and
  • in personal vehicles present on company property.

Tobacco-Use Cessation Program

The Hartford is committed to providing support to all employees who wish to stop using tobacco products by providing access to a variety of resources and assistance.  Employees can enroll in the VP Tobacco Cessation program offered on the My Wellness at Work platform.  They will get support with breaking a vape, cigarette, or smokeless tobacco habit by discussing what drives urges, handling cravings, finding healthier alternatives and discussing whether a nicotine replacement therapy is right for them (gum, patches, or medication). Information about the program is available on My Wellness at Work, by visiting the Programs tab.

Employees can also access free tobacco cessation resources on the American Cancer Society's website (www.cancer.org).
