Total Rewards

Our total rewards empower employees.

The Hartford is where passion meets performance. And we believe in rewarding great performance.  Here your salary is just one component of your total rewards package. Depending on your role, your total compensation may include short- and long-term incentives, as well as a comprehensive benefits offering. This highly competitive package not only rewards performance, it helps ensure that you can keep living your passion - because at The Hartford when you are strong, we become stronger.

Competitive Compensation

We pay for performance. At The Hartford, we believe that high-performing employees should be rewarded. That's why our monetary compensation includes more than your base salary. It also adds incentive-based pay intended to reward you for your individual contributions to our company's performance.

Comprehensive Health Benefits

Making health a priority for you and your loved ones. Providing health benefits for you and the people you love, when you need them, is just one of the ways we can help you prevail when life gets challenging.  We also offer comprehensive programs and resources to help you maintain, improve and manage your health.
  • Health – Our health plan includes three Consumer-Directed Health Plan (CDHP) options. Each consumer-directed option can be coupled with a health savings account. The Hartford provides tools and education to help our employees become well informed, cost-conscious health care consumers.
  • Dental – Our dental program includes two deductible options. Both cover preventive services such as cleaning and checkups, basic restorative services such as fillings, and major restorative services, up to certain limits. Coverage for orthodontia is available in one of the options offered. The options differ in the annual deductible amounts, the plan payment levels for basic services, and the premium amounts you pay for coverage.
  • Vision – We offer a voluntary group vision plan. The plan includes access to a comprehensive vision-care network as well as benefits toward annual eye exams, glasses, contact lenses and more.
  • Critical Illness and Accident Insurance – We offer voluntary critical illness and accident insurance. These coverages help safeguard against significant financial loss associated with illness and accidents and can complement your medical and disability coverage.

Wealth-Protection Benefits

Protecting the wealth you’ve worked hard to build – You earn it. You save it. You spend it.  At The Hartford we provide programs to help you protect it, even if you are unable to work.
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Coverage – We provide disability protection to help cover part of your income when you can’t work due to sickness, injury or childbirth. Eligible employees receive short-term disability coverage and a basic level of long-term disability coverage, and have the option to purchase additional coverage.
  • Health Savings Accounts – Consumer-directed health plans allow you to contribute to a special tax-advantaged Health Savings Account (HSA) you can use to pay for qualified health care expenses now and in the future. An HSA never expires — unused balances automatically carry over year to year, and the money is yours even if you go to a new employer, retire or transfer it to another HSA.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) – We offer two types of FSAs. A health care spending account that allows you to set aside a portion of your earnings (before tax) to pay for qualified medical expenses and a dependent day care spending account allows you to do the same for qualified dependent day care expenses.
