Employee Volunteers

Giving Back to Our Communities

The Hartford’s employees exhibit exceptional character every day, embracing the opportunity to give back to the communities in which they work and live. We harness the power of a 17,400-person workforce, mobilizing them to invest their time, talent, and generosity as community volunteers.

Our company hosts many giving programs throughout the year focused on a variety of community needs to appeal to the diverse interests of our employees. These efforts include fighting hunger, teaching and mentoring students, “adopting” families at the holidays, and school supply drives. We also have an annual giving campaign providing employees with an opportunity to support the community organizations that hold greatest personal meaning for them.

The Hartford grants full-time employees eight hours of paid time off annually to volunteer in the local community as well as other wellness benefits. Our employees are also recognized on a national level for their volunteer efforts. In 2016, 119 employees received the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award, signed by President Obama, for their volunteer efforts last year.
