Giving Back to Our Communities
The Hartford’s employees exhibit exceptional character every day, embracing the opportunity to give back to the communities in which they work and live. We harness the power of our workforce, mobilizing them to invest their time, talent, and generosity as community volunteers.
Our company hosts many giving programs throughout the year focused on a variety of community needs to appeal to the diverse interests of our employees. These efforts include fighting hunger, teaching and mentoring students, “adopting” families at the holidays, and school supply drives. We also have an annual giving campaign providing employees with an opportunity to support the community organizations that hold greatest personal meaning for them.
The Hartford’s full-time employees who volunteer in their communities receive several benefits and rewards. These include:
- 8 hours of paid time off annually to volunteer
- Dollars for Doers directed to a charity of the employee’s choice
- Other wellness program benefits
In 2017, 330 employees received the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award for their volunteer efforts.
In addition to benefits for volunteering, The Hartford also offers a Matching Gifts program that extends the reach of employee donations made to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations.
