For Employees

Employee Benefits help give you the power to prevail.

When your employer offers voluntary insurance coverages from The Hartford as part of their broader benefits package, they are giving you access to a wealth of added protection.

While the scope of coverage varies depending on what your employer offers and the choices you make, all of them help protect you and your loved ones against a loss of income resulting from an accident, injury, serious illness, or even death. You choose the coverages that are right for your needs and enjoy the competitive cost of purchasing them through your employer’s group plan.

Critical Illness Insurance1

A major illness can happen at any time and leave you feeling emotionally, physically, and financially overwhelmed. While traditional health insurance is valuable coverage, it may not cover all of the expenses related to the treatment and recovery from a major illness. With Critical illness insurance, you’ll receive a direct lump-sum payment when a covered illness is diagnosed. It can help pay for things like:

  • Everyday living expenses like bills, groceries, and rent/mortgage.
  • Home health care needs and home modifications.
  • Recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Child care or caregiver expenses.
  • Travel expenses to and from treatment centers.
  • Other expenses medical insurance does not cover.

Accident Insurance

An accident can happen to anyone, and recovery can be costly. Your health insurance may pick up most of the tab, but leave you with out-of-pocket expenses that add up quickly. Accident insurance can help ease the unplanned financial burden.

Accident insurance provides direct cash benefit(s) associated with a covered injury and related services, like ambulance rides, x-rays, emergency room visits, and diagnostic exams.

Short-term Disability Insurance

A disability can happen to anyone. A back injury, pregnancy, or serious illness can lead to months without a regular paycheck. If you’re unable to work for a short period of time due to a non-work-related condition, illness or injury, short-term disability insurance can provide:

  • A percentage of your income every week, depending on how much protection you choose.
  • A way to help pay the bills without relying on loans or financial support from friends and family.
  • Affordable group rates through your employer and the convenience of payroll deduction.
  • The professional support you may need to help you get back on your feet and back to work.

Long-term Disability Insurance

Long-term Disability insurance helps protect your paycheck if you’re unable to work for a long period of time after a serious non-work-related condition, injury or illness. If you have long-term disability insurance, it can provide:

  • A percentage of your income each month, depending on how much protection you choose.
  • Professional help for disability-related challenges from legal specialists, therapists and financial counselors.
  • Affordable group rates through your employer with convenient payroll deduction.

Life Insurance

If you die, life benefits are given to your beneficiaries in a lump sum to help them pay for things like:

  • Burial and final expenses.
  • Debts such as student and car loans and mortgages.
  • Future expenses, including college tuition, rent, childcare, retirement savings or even elderly parent care.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

A sudden accident can change everything. Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides a high-benefit lump sum to your beneficiaries if you were to die as the result of a covered accident. It also pays partial benefits if you lose your sight, hearing, a limb, ability to speak, and more, due to a covered accident. AD&D benefits are paid in addition to any life insurance you may have and can be used to pay for daily living expenses and other needs.
