What Is Emergency Roadside Assistance?
Emergency roadside assistance provides services to help you through common roadside emergencies. Sometimes tires go flat, your keys may get locked in the car, or your battery dies. Emergency roadside assistance can give you peace of mind and can help make difficult situations on the road less stressful. The Hartford understands that sometimes your tire may go flat, your keys may get locked in the car, and your battery could die.

RESCUE 1-800®’s vast network is available to provide you nearby help – at any time of the day or night, 365 days a year. To reach emergency roadside assistance, call 1-800-322-7789.
What Is Towing Insurance Coverage?
Towing insurance coverage (also known as Towing and Labor insurance) helps pay the cost to tow your insured vehicle when it is inoperable, whether or not an accident is involved. You could be down your driveway or miles away from your home; towing insurance coverage will help pay to tow your car to a repair shop to get it fixed.
Towing insurance coverage also covers the cost of any labor required at the site of the breakdown.
How Towing Insurance Coverage Works
If your car breaks down on the side of the road, towing insurance helps cover the cost to tow your vehicle to the nearest car repair shop. Towing insurance also helps to cover the labor required to get your car back up and running at the site where it is broken down. It does not cover the cost of the parts that may be needed to complete the repairs.
Maybe you get a flat tire after hitting a large pothole. You might need to jumpstart your car because the battery is drained. Your car runs out of fuel on the way to the gas station to fill up your tank. Whatever the situation is, having an inoperable car can be stressful.
Towing insurance helps pay to have your car towed to the nearest car repair shop. Towing insurance coverage also helps cover the costs of labor required at the site where it is broken down. However, towing insurance does not cover the cost of the parts that may be needed to complete the repairs.
If your car needs a new battery, for example, your towing and labor insurance coverage may cover the fee for the mechanic to swap out the battery in your car, but not the cost of the new battery.
If you didn’t have towing and labor insurance, you might be stuck paying the cost to have your car towed to the shop, as well as any labor associated with making your vehicle drivable again.
Towing insurance can be extremely helpful and convenient if your car ever gets stuck somewhere – but it may not be necessary if you already have similar protection through a separate roadside assistance membership.
The availability of towing coverage varies by state. You must have comprehensive auto coverage on your vehicle before you can get Towing and Labor insurance.
If your auto policy from The Hartford has towing and labor coverage, you automatically have access to RESCUE 1-800,® a nationwide emergency roadside assistance network of roadside assistance providers who you can call any time of the day or night.
