Small Business Boost

Giving Businesses a Boost

In partnership with Junior Achievement USA® (JA), Accion U.S. Network (Accion), LiftFund, and AARP Foundation, The Hartford provides a Small Business Boost through our Communities with HART program. The program nurtures the well-being of America’s communities by inspiring new generations of business leaders, enabling underserved neighborhood business owners to achieve growth and engaging the community in neighborhood business support.

Accion and LiftFund

Through our partnerships with Accion and LiftFund, both nonprofit microfinance lenders, we help small business owners across the country by:
  • Providing underserved neighborhood businesses that cannot access traditional sources of capital, access to loans. Learn more about these small business loan programs: LiftFund can help business owners located in San Antonio, TX and the surrounding area. Accion can help business owners located in all other areas of the country.
  • Supplementing financial support with training and resources, including our Business Owners Playbook.

Junior Achievement USA

Junior Achievement USA (JA) helps turn the students of today into the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Through an extension of our decade-long partnership, we assist JA in these efforts by:
  • Helping to bring JA’s flagship JA Company Program,® for which we are the title sponsor, to high school students nationwide through a new online learning curriculum.
  • Teaching students about financial literacy and business success, sparking their entrepreneurial spirit and helping to prepare them for today’s complex global marketplace.

AARP Foundation

In June 2015, The Hartford broadened its long-standing relationship with AARP by committing $1.4 million to the AARP Foundation in support of their Work for Yourself@50+SM initiative. Through this initiative, we help educate and inspire older Americans interested in developing their own small businesses by equipping them with the information and skills they need to achieve their goals.
