As a Florida resident, you are required by law to have auto insurance. If you don’t have car insurance in Florida, you could be fined.
Before you can register and operate a vehicle in Florida, you must show proof of insurance. Florida state law requires you to have insurance at the following minimum limits for these required coverages:
- Property damage liability coverage: $10,000 per accident
- Personal injury protection (PIP) coverage: $10,000 per person
