Base Commission paid to Producers on Commercial Insurance policies and bonds placed with The Hartford vary and are based on a variety of factors, as described on our Producer Compensation Disclosure page. The historic ranges set forth below apply to ninety (90%) percent of Commercial Insurance policies and bonds written with us.

Base Commission ranges shown are net of any policyholder service fees charged to the Producer. When applicable, such fees are generally 1% of the premium.
* Financial Lines includes Directors’ and Officers' Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Professional (E&O) Liability, Cyber, Kidnap & Ransom, and Transactional Risk.
Contingent Commission
In addition to receiving a Base Commission, a Producer may be eligible to earn a Contingent Commission. Contingent Commission can be earned based on a Producer's performance with us over a specified period in the past, as described on our Producer Compensation Disclosure page. Contingent Commission ranges from 1% to 6.5% of eligible premium for 90% of our eligible Producers.
Supplemental Commission
In addition to receiving a Base Commission, a Producer may receive Supplemental Commission. Supplemental Commission for 90% of the Producers who earn such commissions ranges from 1% to 6.5%.
Underwriting and Other Services
An additional commission or fixed or variable compensation may be paid to Producers for underwriting and other services, as described in more detail in our in our Producer Compensation Disclosure page. Such additional compensation can range from 1% to 15%, depending on the nature and scope of the services. And the amount of business written or other performance measures.
Other Information on Compensation
A special additional commission, typically not exceeding 10%, may be paid in connection with arrangements where we are provided with Quoting Preferences and Book Quoting Opportunities as described in more detail on our Producer Compensation Disclosure page.
Individual Producers and customer service representatives may also receive other additional payments, benefits, and compensation, including individual incentive awards based on the quoting or sale of policies or other performance measures (usually not more than $100 per policy for small business accounts or $200 per policy on larger business accounts) as described in more detail on our Producer Compensation Disclosure page, Program manager fees, which may be based on a percent of premium, may also be paid to Producers, including on business placed with us by other Producers.
